Employee Spotlight - Mohesan Sreekuladevan

Mohesan (Moe!) is the Team Lead of the Data & Web Platforms team at Cyclica. Having worked at Cyclica for over 4 years, he enjoys building platforms to push drug discovery to the next stage.

He has a degree in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Waterloo, and is the first from his family to complete a post-secondary education. Mohesan loves a good riddle and logic problem and is counting down the days until humanity stops using fossil fuels!

What do you like about working at Cyclica? 

I like working on projects that I know will have a big impact on an entire industry. Specifically, the work being done at Cyclica may change the way drugs are discovered forever!

How do you describe what you do for a living to family and friends? 

I tell my family and friends that I lead a team of software developers to build platforms that will help scientists design and test drugs in a scalable workflow.

How do you define success? 

To me, success is learning! As long as one is continuing to push their boundaries and grow every day, then they are/will be successful in life.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this? 

I can see myself doing many things, from making renewable energies & energy grids more efficient, to growing the circular economy or building out open-source tools that I believe in.

Do you have a pet? What's he/she like?

Yes, I have 2 mischievous guinea pigs that love to knock over everything in their cage! One of them hates being touched but is quick to catch on to new tricks. The other loves a good tummy rub but gets very angry if not fed on time (angry one in picture above).

What do you like to do when you aren’t at work? 

I love to garden! The act of starting something from seed and nurturing it into a full fledged plant that I can continuously harvest from brings a feeling of serenity into my life. Plus I love composting organic materials into nutrients to feed my plants.
